Overview
Sturdy and easy to grow. Stems are thicker, stronger, taller, and easier to manage than those of annual gypsophila, an otherwise similar flower. 3/4 to 1" pure white blooms float above gray-blue, waxy foliage. Branching plant habit. Also known as soapwort or cow soapwort.
Planting
Direct sow after last spring frost, or start indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost date and transplant after frost danger
Growing
Sun: full. Water: low. Soil: Well-drained loam; tolerates various soil types but prefers good drainage. Space plants 18" apart. Germination: 7-14 days.

Common pests: Aphids, spider mites. Common diseases: Root rot in waterlogged soil, powdery mildew in humid conditions with poor air circulation.
