    Trout Lily (Erythronium americanum) is a perennial native wildflower. Hardy in USDA zones 3 to 8. Prefers part sun.

  • Planting

    Direct sow seeds outdoors in fall for natural stratification; germinate in spring. Alternatively, start indoors with 3-month cold stratification (refrigerator), then move to warm light. Bulbs: plant in fall (Oct–Nov) or early spring, 2–3 inches deep

  • Growing

    Sun: partial. Water: high. Soil: Moist, well-drained woodland soil, rich in organic matter, slightly acidic to neutral. Space plants 3" apart. Germination: 60-90 days (spring, after winter stratification).
