    Tall Ironweed (Vernonia gigantea) is a perennial native wildflower. Hardy in USDA zones 5 to 8.

  • Planting

    Direct sow in spring after last frost, or in fall for spring germination. Start indoors 6-8 weeks before last spring frost. Cold stratification improves germination.

  • Growing

    Sun: partial. Water: low. Soil: Well-drained, tolerates poor to average soil, slightly acidic to neutral. Space plants 24" apart. Germination: 10-20 days.
