  • Overview

    12" tall plants are vase-shaped with bright red leaves and greenish-red stems. Good for mixed packs with green- or white-stemmed pac chois. Also excellent as a baby leaf.

    Direct sow seeds pressed lightly into prepared soil (requires light to germinate); sow 2-3 weeks before last spring frost or mid-to-late July for fall crop; thin seedlings to spacing once first true leaves appear

  • Growing

    Sun: shade. Water: high. Soil: Well-draining loam with organic matter, slightly acidic to neutral (pH 6.0-7.0). Space plants 8" apart. Germination: 7-10 days.

  • Pests & diseases

    Common pests: Aphids, slugs, flea beetles, cutworms. Common diseases: Powdery mildew, downy mildew, root rot (in waterlogged conditions).
