Overview
Crisp Japanese-type fall radish of highest quality. "Stump-rooted" cylindrical white roots are pale green near the crown and avg. 16-18" long x 2 1/2-3" wide. A crisp, tender variety for pickling and storage. For July and early August sowing.
Planting
Direct sow 1/2 inch deep in mid-July through early August for fall harvest. Time sowing so roots mature as temperatures drop to 60–70°F
Growing
Sun: full. Water: low. Soil: Well-drained, loose loam or sandy loam, pH 6.0–7.0; avoid compacted or clay-heavy soil. Space plants 4" apart. Germination: 7–10 days.
Pests & diseases
Common pests: Flea beetles, cabbage root maggots (preventable with row covers or cool-season timing). Common diseases: Fungal leaf diseases (rare in cool-season fall growth; prevent with dry foliage).
