  • Overview

    Tall, fast-growing plants have distinctive violet stems, veining, and flower bracts with lavender blooms and 2" long leaves. Beautiful in casual flower bouquets. Ht. 26-30".Edible Flowers: Use the flowers in any recipe that calls for basil, or to garnish drinks, salads, soups, pasta, and desserts. Flavor is of intense basil with a note of mint, anise, and cinnamon.

  • Planting

    Start indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost or direct sow after soil reaches 60°F. Keep soil consistently moist until germination.

  • Growing

    Sun: partial. Water: high. Soil pH: 6–7. Space plants 12" apart. Germination: 5-10.

  • Pests & diseases

    Common pests: Aphids, Japanese beetles, slugs, whiteflies. Common diseases: Fusarium wilt, bacterial leaf spot, downy mildew.
